On January 20th, 1895, it was possible to cross the Loire river by dry foot through enormous blocks of ice.
This ice jam stretched over 70 kilometers.
In Sully sur Loire, a restaurant had even been installed on the pack ice to satisfy the demand of the more and more numerous onlookers.
